Plans & Limits
DebateCardAI has two plans: a free plan you can do real work on, and Pro at $8.99 per month. Pro is built to feel unlimited for normal prep: the numbers below are high ceilings meant to stop abuse, not to ration your work, and a typical debater never reaches them. This page lists exactly what each plan includes, how the limits reset, and what counts as one use.

Logos, Rhetorify, Bracket Math, and the Library are free for everyone, with no usage cap.
For everyday prep, treat Pro as unlimited. The Pro numbers sit well above what anyone cuts in a normal day or month. They exist so that no single account can run up huge AI costs through automated abuse, which keeps the service fast and sustainable for everyone.
How the limits reset
- Daily card cuts use a rolling 24-hour window. "5 per day" means no more than 5 cuts in any 24 hours, not a midnight reset. When you hit the cap, one cut frees up exactly 24 hours after your oldest recent cut.
- Monthly limits reset on the first of the calendar month (UTC). This is the same for everyone; it is not tied to your signup or billing date.
- Lifetime limits never reset. The free Speechify (3) and Block Builder (2) are one-time trials.
What counts as one use
- One generated card is one cut. A batch of ten cards is ten cuts, in any mode.
- One Evidence Finder search is one search, no matter how many sources it finds. A batch search counts as one search per claim, so a batch of eight claims uses eight searches.
- A failed or empty result still counts. Cuts and searches are counted when the work starts, so a card that comes back "no match," or a search that finds nothing, still uses one. (Requests rejected before that, like being signed out or pasting too much source text, do not count.)
- For Speechify, only generating a speech counts. Refining a speech with the chat assistant is free and unlimited.
How Pro works with referrals and comps
Your plan is "Pro" if you either pay for it or hold an unexpired Pro grant (from a referral reward, a trial, or a comp). Grants work silently: when one expires, you simply return to the free limits, with nothing to cancel. This is why a referral reward can give you Pro for a while without a subscription.
Billing
- Upgrade with the Upgrade to Pro button. It opens Stripe Checkout; when you finish, you come back to the app as a Pro user.
- Manage or cancel from Settings, using Manage subscription. This opens the Stripe customer portal, where you can update your card, view invoices, or cancel.
- If you cancel, you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for. You are not downgraded early.
